From Skill Gaps to Smart Farms: Empowering Liberian Farmers Through Knowledge
Last month, over 50 farmers in Liberia gained hands-on experience in climate-smart agriculture and market access strategies. The goal? To elevate their farms from subsistence plots to smart, profitable businesses.
The training covered topics including organic pest control, record keeping, and group marketing models. Farmers also learned to produce nutritious vegetable seedlings for school feeding programs.
By connecting with local agribusinesses, ten groups formed cooperatives that now supply leafy greens to the Foya market twice a week. One group reported earning $1,200 collectively during its first harvest season—double their previous earnings.
